" I'm scratching around some good news this morning dreary Monday with some of these findings snow on the sidewalk and not much sunshine and site yet. We wanted to land of writing he's higher taxes lower hopes and growing fear not a good time. And hard to find a bright spot even with baseball back in our -- that's why. I spent last night living in the world of ultimate escapism. The Oscars. Normally I give the show up past the mandatory political statements thrown in from the left and it's always from the left don't interest me. If I want political speeches -- watch all convention footage Sunday we get Sean Penn who was if nothing else thoroughly predictable. Another reason not to watch as the saying goes on too long I don't know who other than their immediate relatives here who wins best song that best choreography. Plus the funniest and seen so far Letterman and Billy Crystal have been giving this self important ceremony could leave him alone for years now. That said last night guys Hugh Jackman was pretty good. Is opening -- big Broadway song and dance routine was terrific and he wasn't offensive. But what bothered me during the evening it was a Dark -- last year's big Batman movie wasn't even nominated. I realize it's so subjective but it was a really really good multi. And now I'm defining movie in the old assent to great entertainment and escapism. The kind of build it gives you your money's worth and excitement and drama. Like Clint Eastwood in grand to Reno another one ignored. Batman was simply too successful at the box -- sister -- nomination. The west coast that goes through cycles of guilt and culture creep. When it comes to the nominating process this year is darling was obviously slum dog millionaire. Not a bad bill. And at least -- ledger one for playing the joker Dark Knight although Josh Grogan was terrific in milk. And even better last year in No Country for Old Men. Put him in the category of loose some loose so. But the best thing about the Oscar show was it had known -- good or bad. -- plunging now. No word about the latest bombing in Baghdad with a need for more troops in Afghanistan. And the way things keep going that meant the winner was. Yeah."
