" Why all the time. Maybe it does not come I know he's not losing their music and -- hallway orderly and oh yeah I'm gonna. Her looks very much like this. The Volvo Governor Patrick O'Connell he came in a few text messages and confusing. -- we finally have them shaking hands -- Human too and should I did nothing speaks to the what's that. Are you planning on one course in which this -- we -- afterward this you do really handshake with. Okay the Clinton perfected that it is not and I found in his efforts to tell our government effort and the okay. It's easier to see -- thank you for being flexible and sorry also able to do this on schedule last week your mother suddenly -- on."

" Eighty ninth minute one hour zodiac in the long run and era. She'd been in that nursing home from most the last four years that. Alzheimer's and diabetes and this time last eighteen months particularly particularly but she leaves. And on eighty and 86 year world. Husband who. They've been there for 62 years. Only guy here he's independent and in good health and he's just it's and it's a remarkable. Example. And he's in he's devastated of course and."

" So nervous and -- it was world negligent here -- boy that's tough 62 years and 62 you match yeah."

" Well to go from the beautiful to -- to. To my little cousins that everybody's worried about. In any day now -- Kevin Patrick over an -- in the -- did not want to."

" Kind of general. Tax raising before we had some significant reforms. At the register sales tax yet so what reforms."

" We are you talking about before you can."

" Be happier -- tax reforms we short I don't."

" And we don't make it sound like it's about me being at this event is just about trying to get China which I don't think we can ask people. To contribute more and and believe me I'm very clear item that is -- the ability -- we have with this economy is doing -- state. To the state fiscal situation is is very likely is doing to families and individuals and businesses nonprofits and stand. But I think it's very hard for us to make case to the general public for for any new -- whether it says. In the house version or am where our proposals and if which is asking people to contribute to the status quo. I think the pension system needs to be fixed and rightly so doesn't like -- it working on. I'm but we haven't delivered -- I think at at and Annette Annette. I'm -- that the house to house is only talking about into the pension reform. Future higher as well that's -- big problem and you in the sin is that this I mean I think the Senate's bill. Was better. Due respect to the house the house and took a lot of of the steps but they don't apply those changes to themselves. And I speak again it's about credibility that it. The that matters in conference now -- the two. -- bodies are trying to work at the final bill and any communication with them that when I'm looking for and that final and one of the things I'm looking for is that we make the changes. Applicable now and seeking it. Can't take away. A benefit that someone is in most cases under federal can't -- benefit its nominees today enjoy. But. But for in the cases where you know someone has not yet vested in net benefit haven't retired yet -- thank the year to date rule you know that when you -- do the -- Work one day can hold it like playing a heavier with detention unit is sometimes it's referred to is king for a day -- tell me if -- if if he thinks is a good talking in code -- I notice this is so if you are if you are asked to be an acting supervisor. For a day year to January. And disabled they Mueller. Use your retirement accounts is if you have always been supervised --"

" This fire department about the kind of and so -- or I think marchers going on this let's assume. That what comes out of this conference -- thing on pensions were obsessed with I think you'll to a degree -- and when -- come back to the other analyst -- let's assume that they do. A what you described as I'm paraphrasing was essentially stuck having to wait a generation for reform camp with the house version passes would that. If that were delivered to your death have not basket that's -- good enough now so essentially there be you wouldn't you wouldn't sign that you wouldn't sign a tax increase entertainment are there curricula and."

" You know we cannot just say I'm not I'm not trying to be a -- here I'm I'm I understand there has to be compromise I'm not saying it's gotta be my way. Or no way. We put a bill bill Florida and that and the compromise may not be exactly it -- handful points I've been very specific. With the conferees and with the leadership about what they -- what they act and rode it down so that nobody's -- wouldn't be any ambiguity. I am because sometimes this is what you hear back from people what we didn't know this which he cared about and that's which I wrote it down. And the same thing you know ethics is another one the the house passed a terrific. Fare much in line with the task force that we put in place and in December there was. A house and senate representation. On the task force that issued a unanimous report was very strong. We filed the bill as soon as the task force report was was done as the as recently. We would we ask for action in the first thirty days house moved on which was great. The Senate. Committee just yesterday I think maybe today released the area that report I haven't. I haven't read. The proposed -- it's it's been you know recent doing some analysis that. It does not quite seem to go. Far enough I mean there's some ways in which again and I I haven't read yet."

" But there's -- animal has but there's reform and there's reform meaning once again if you're not satisfied with the quality of the reforms put in your desk. Any tax increase that follows it will be -- It won it when listening and -- and I'm -- it -- to -- we only have been more actually -- that we are breaking and we have the full time -- let me just get this attention that it of these people reading about is this insane law. It's as if the voters fired. If the voters choose not to reelect you that is clause under state law to increase your pension. An enhanced pension -- no -- it seems to me is talking about -- that what they are talking about 12 doing away with is what you were angry about the other day were some legislators have under the the state pension board to gotten enhanced pensions when they were defeated they voluntarily quit. I know you're against that Tim Cahill says it's grant granted -- threatening. But much more importantly. Why should someone who was rejected by the voters democratically. Get a larger pension from us after. Again their constituents again."

" I'm with you I'm I'm with you understand what that's -- and the point yeah I mean look that I think that it. I'm I'm still trying to understand the origins of all these things that they'll have they'll have stories. History. A slip through the wee hours is he kind of history block them well now -- don't want your image that that's not that that that that it was for you know the career. State worker. Who have been laboring in the -- record for him forever and then you know Hanukkah and it comes along and says I'm gonna fire anybody who's been. Do in the job and put my friends. And I'm oversimplify -- that was the origin and I at least in and then all night and exactly and it's and it's of and it's turned into a two a kind of an odd entitlement I mean you know elected positions. RM. Entitled to these caps we it will not denied jobs felt like they are it's stewardship. And we have them until as -- usage in the we have ms. long is the as long as the public wants to rehire us and they don't rehire us senate -- and you get your -- features new move to."

" We go to break in ten seconds for you how to react to him -- singer grandstanding. On this pension issue when people are that you just can't you can't react to everything. And you know. You just have to move on okay we're particularly if we can't we are all shocked that he was edged surfing you know is going to give listeners when we come back for governor is yours 6178221969. Pound 96 line from Verizon Wireless phone."

" You're not."

" It's genuinely -- to 969 WTKK concern is our monthly visit and -- Governor Deval Patrick was kind enough to reschedule. After it lost -- Last week we gotta get to all your calls -- as -- as you can take a few minutes to talk about the tea and talk about the horrors for the."

" Welfare recipients on the cast at the right Marjorie is dancing I'm dancing and I do my life I feel it's only nine. It's -- to do you give it my own and he's only -- like early time when enemy. Anyway."

" Don't you think about the white man's over -- please don't. Because like that about two years ago and it's ruined my whole ability to dance now because I realize that the white girls or partners -- vote anyway consistent Marty anything to be moving very well thank you thank you I do the best I can anyway. Retina of the -- discussion and you want to talk about the reform in the transportation."

" I think that was."

" And well no I just -- you know we were talking that this will change before revenue yes point in and there is little there is a reform agenda that includes many items -- three in particular. That. We have been working on it has been some progress on. But before the budget is done at the end June I want to see prior to inclusion in front inclusion meaningfully protect you that pension reform. Before that before the break. And -- and getting kudos to the Senate who pastor really great bill. The house passed a bill that really only applies to people who don't yet work for state -- you know which -- change well -- generation is means waiting a generation anyway and and and -- conference now trying to get to that. To a better place. And to an -- and we have told them what we'd like to see in that in that final bill. Ethics. Is the other one ethics and lobbying reform that house -- a really great bill. The Senate put their bill out it last night org or today we still analyzing it but it appears. -- they went down. You know they went the distance on some things and another thing like the powers of the ethics commission have been reduced. The the ability of -- Of the ethics commission to do enforcement has been. Has been trimmed some night you know -- that worries me that's not the direction that I. I think we want to go in so. And then transportation reform is the other one which is hard you know never pretending that it. That is it is and aren't we filed the bill which we believe we'll save the commonwealth tens of millions of dollars a year and yet simplicity Ian and and efficiency in the way we we managing driver. Transportation. Network that house and the Senate have both passed. Bills which are now in conference in committee trying to work out the the differences and final bill we've been very clear about -- They just don't go far enough that they eat and again I don't I don't want to leave the wrong impression it doesn't have to be -- are no. We've already you know for example. Our view was. If the public is wants to hold elected officials and indeed the governor accountable. For how transportation. That transportation system functions -- give me the authority to do something that's move away from this quasi public quasi independent. Monolith have a real estate agency people who work for the state who were on the state benefits system and all that stuff. And who can be hired and fired because they are performing an outperform. What what both the Senate and the house have done is create a new quasi independent agency to have the old quasi independent agencies report to. Now we you know that's not ideal from my perspective but we can work within net as long as we. As long as they are willing to take some compromise. I'm to try to make -- function and function successfully other -- those are those the issues. We'll get to them to the revenue. Options when the budget comes that is I've said before and I can sign a budget. With new revenue in it so I know we need that new revenue unless we are able to deliver. In meaningful ways on these."

" If they did delivering in meaningful ways is defined by you want to reform you would sign a sales tax even though you said you did not support a broad based -- and you prefer the guest -- themselves -- the candy -- sales tax increase to 66 and a quarter percent. Comes your desk after meaningful reform use."

" It collects and an Internet the -- can I also add to that sure. You know as this is not my first choice. I think it's a year and I think targeted measures that -- are from specific sources. For specific needs to that they aren't the revenues and diverted to somebody else's good idea. I in the future is is -- discipline that we need. -- now on Beacon Hill but again I want to work with the with the legislature I think the sales taxes. Is he's viewed. I think its principal merits from the perspective of the legislature is that it's politically easier. And and that okay if that's a framework we're going to work in let's try to work in. Work in that but isn't there isn't a bad weather comes from our proposals in the Senate. And house proposals that I'm prepared to ask the public to support them. Saying we've actually change the status -- okay how delayed my next and -- delays that little rusty is questions and -- Hillary I haven't. And sure a league -- is called legion is that am I pronouncing it properly."

" Yet you that you I. A little nervous I am to be of particular okay the sixty we know him down. I yeah recently got my -- triple layer I'm having attempt at me not too great for us security I just wondering. How come while we the people are going to be getting pretty autism insurance can AAA membership -- Is a definite identical to vote and why."

" That's a great question and that you've gotten a few calls about -- style -- loves loves loves lastly let me give you little a little background when I understand the program to be it's a programming goes back to governor Romney's time. It's a program and it makes -- transportation available to. Single mothers and others on on welfare to get them to work if they are not close to the T or public transportation. It's by the analysis I have been offered. Has saved the commonwealth nearly and in now over -- over the life of the area of the program. And I you know it's announcing his -- on the needs to be in tweak to looked at a reexamine. But if we want people to work and get off welfare which is the point. And we get -- figure out how to make it. How to make it practically successful two two people -- you know something that has come out as I guess it's been in. Previous budgets I think it was in the Senate. But the proposal is as well it came at the other day. And people who are interested in looking at -- we going to have to look at it because. Because speech is not enough. Not enough money. These days and -- and we'll see but I am I'm still trying to get underneath that I understand it's it's its origins of that as far as I just described T."

" I think what is certainly going -- yankees you can lose your job or quit two jobs I had a job anymore is to keep the car yet that's it you know the first I heard that is when you said it when I came in today I'm in the studio that troubles me to. Okay so that's something you should think should be stripped from this if it were to continue to fuel while -- look at the whole thing him and get some information and then when -- connect next month that we talked about and I'll be better."

" Speaking of stripped from a the house budget and was released before the house debated it. I've got rid of the 52 million dollar and coming city and -- 104 million dollar Quinn bill -- for cops based upon education etc. youthful put back in in some modified fashion. Were you -- the crime bill in this budget."

" Well again I think. Do we get nothing that really miserable choices we have made nine. Almost nine billion dollar apple between last this fiscal year in the coming. Fiscal year -- Revenues performance and projections. And now we have dealt with at the combination of cuts. Uses -- rainy day fund and federal stimulus money. And in revenues in our case the targeted revenue -- lead to earlier in the in the case of house. And a sales tax increase idea and I think that AM we aren't in a position. Where we can afford. A whole lot of things that might have been good ideas once. It may not be anymore is Kringle resentment and get -- the story and I think the media I think between them may be one of those things now the question. It -- on the push back again it. Is it didn't get a call. Columnist and was another quiz yeah I think it was a remaining it was a police officer who called the and talked about with the impact on a dissertation was part of this -- get the sense I might as they had to -- I can yeah you gotta eat meat. Can't you gotta be going to be thinking about -- to worry about that and at that sort of thing on the other hand I think it has been. Some gamesmanship around the greens and -- I also think that if I understand it correctly -- some. Local police. Department and negotiated. Quinn bill into the -- contract. So if the state isn't coming up with a contribution and what does it do to. -- fiscal situation -- local governments I think it's kind of thing that'd minimum ought to be faced them. But I'll tell you right now -- I'm struggling with this. Right now. Knowing there's not enough money. And I'm looking at the -- bills on one side and let's say cuts to news. Services for people with mental disability and other. It's a real. Hard choice to say. We should be supporting and and."

" And be phased Dozier today an Edmonton but this is where things and I don't mean to belabor this is performed and -- forms a big deal. That only thirty towns encrypt it for Enron management in thirty towns have bought into the state health care. Umbrella. Coverage -- which is the -- Budget buster. I don't see this anywhere in these pensions now I know that there are some pension reform proposals and that there are some cities and towns that -- state but those are in the minority. Why not just saying I think you could sit this. In the local municipal unions don't get a choice were in a crisis not you -- buy into the State's health care budget because it's gonna save us millions and millions of anti billions of dollars."

" You can't do it by edict you have to do that legislation we filed legislation on this you know it's not in that in that pension Billiton municipal partnership act. But doesn't default is asking is will we -- well that's true we changed the special because that the threshold to come in early it was pretty was pretty than 70% it was you know was. It was. It was of interest to the communities but it wasn't practically happen. I mean in in the place right in in and there isn't enough -- communities that we. Reduce the -- the threshold the municipal relief. Measures that that house since -- Canadian and working on. Have media. And another idea. Which. I think they will be convening soon but I and you know it's interesting remember speaking to -- easy this year. Was on this point very tough earlier yen and was making the point that you know maybe. Maybe we shouldn't. Be quite -- differential. And that was before things get quite as."

" It seems relatively painless you're used to have insurance but it just coming from a different place and treasures still covered that it's not like losing your job for those junior senior center attack."

" That's right so that in time and I think as I say some of the things where we may have wanted. In better times fiscal times to be more gradual you know is hard to make that argument right now because this is a crisis. This is serious and it's the worst in in generations there isn't another governor. Another living up there who. We had to deal. With a -- that fiscal challenges we have right now right now so there's some there's some things which is going to have to make. Carter calls then he that we might like and we you know upset some of our friends as we as we do but we have to make those calls I think that's the Japanese response."

" Are responsible is take a break when we come back Deval Patrick -- three right here in 969 to the PKK."

" Nobody to ask the governor with Deval Patrick on Boston's. Revolution. WTKK."

" Welcome back to ask the Governor Deval Patrick and six point nine -- eat -- and human human monitoring and taking your calls tonight. We Lydia who was the last caller I think was on the called design and post to answer -- yeah I apologize. Lydia for rent for leaving hanging like like and it's it was -- isn't a popular yeah it was much -- Let's see Eileen is calling from Charlton Eileen he's there piling."

" I am good afternoon thank you for hanging on thank you for taking my culture. -- EM and antique dealer it and I lived. And I wouldn't expound for mr. director very historical should antique area here -- business -- it's not so hot -- in the middle of the pentium name Mac it was thanks to -- it is a very big tourist attraction. Celebrating as if -- We're circling his antique dealer. And now. Which ultimately in the fair tax people. Don't need -- potentially -- so my question to you. Why it's not just the fair tax help and the that is. Why isn't the only way basically you know kind of you know why can't we cut and -- people do at all."

" Well we've -- thank you for the question Eileen have cut almost a billion and a half already this year and I proposed to take more than that out. Next year but the that the whole week dealing with. Is such that if you if we fired every single state worker every single one. We've eliminated the payroll which still heavy one billion dollar hole. This is unlike anything we have had to deal with time in generations here in Massachusetts. So what we've taken Eileen is a blended approach we've done cuts some of them deep in very painful. We have also use some of the -- a fun and kudos to my predecessors in the legislature for setting up that. Rainy day fund and having it available to us. We have been fortunate to have some federal recovery money through the stimulus act. Over the next a couple of years we've used that as well about two billion to enhance billion over this year and next. And the remaining gap as -- where is what we talking that in terms of in terms of -- and and as you know the sales I think you eat you know -- you -- that that the sales tax is not my first choice. We propose more more targeted. Measures. The legislature to to work with and try to do that. Constructively and it seems to be. Their first choice so if we have to debated we we will and we have been. And about how to do it in waited a sensible and history for but there's no now I'm -- new and and I and and I am and I am hearing you loud and clear. This is not easy. This is not going to be without without some impact -- that. Eileen thanks schools just text that. When Mac from my perspective I still think it's I still think it's fair and it's right in it and and more to the point I think it's targeted against so."

" What did you what did you mean Monday's legislatively is one of his settings means with us."

" Well I think they they are feeling like they don't have the they don't have the votes. But you know -- also. What I should put -- also what. That you know leadership has the votes coming want -- exactly and death -- so that --"

" said they can do with sales tax and one day humor though is why can't they do form you're that was a I mean is this that you ultimately. It's a frustrating as a as a person who. The Marjorie has moved me in the reform column. You're often compared to your body who's the president and states -- reform Axelrod thing to the same message shall -- sort of stuff he's got to legislative leaders. Who seemed to be polling on the same page you wake up this morning you read the a story in the Boston Globe about how this and -- Harrelson and another thing my apologies in an effort to. Send you a message that they don't like what you said about their ethics reform proposals they're gonna in the value on the 71. Century whatever it is fun you it's like four year old people dealing with -- issues that most of us here really do -- so any well does that drive you out of your mind."

" Well. Yes. -- thinner form nominee and c'mon. Nobody likes to be called I don't like it. The leadership the members don't like it you know I admire my -- we'll tell you she's the one who calls mail mostly. How. -- like it at home I get it but. You know you can have you can have these conversations in Monday leadership you can you can you can have. I'm conversations on the phone and and so for that I don't think it is wrong. For governor two expressed publicly what he or she wants I don't think that's wrong I don't think that's offensive it's not personal. It's absolutely not personal and Dan and I think that we are. Now we are able to or ought to be able to have a difference of opinion. I'm even publicly without it being uncivil. It does mean we don't bring passion to acknowledge and I think we will get through this but Emily and apparently if the problem is is -- of the greater chance there for about 75 years and -- really can be coming to an end and Sampson but their own gravy train being. Turned into country well let that that may be something. You know we have. -- the fiscal situation this is them. This is the degree of difficulty and nobody in the late Tuesday dealt with I didn't realize that you fire -- working used to billion dollars in the whole. We should get out more often that's right it's a Yankee you know -- and any one event that calls with them. We've been we started these community forums we were trying to show people with. This kind of information I can't."

" Next -- dermatologist got a memo is and Franklin correct -- Sunday 217 if you -- a month. That is one -- tomorrow."

" And -- that I'm doing on the candidate members here are are doing in the very short time. A slide presentation we set some context insolent that it and it's available on the website it -- VW that matched that of slash slash slash forums slash forms. So you concede this this information with economic trends are doing to to -- she's had some absolutely. Amazing conversations really trying to get. The collective wisdom of all of us not just the folks on Beacon Hill but but regular citizens we try to solve these these. That tackles John is calling from Belmont John thank you for your patience."

" I governor thank you the popularity you bet. If we have the time governor I would like to sympathize with you on the watch your mother lost to publicly congratulate you understand on reforms. I trust -- two legislators are on the right side. As support you when the term that welfare with cars but we don't have time for that thank you I would like very much that I can I can take time to. Says that an. But I implore you governor I implore you to get personally. Aware. And involved in your administration's automobile insurance actions. Some of them are good they should be supported. Do you like managed competition John. I like that competition I liked him I would like but better management of it especially in the area governor. Of urban affordability EU we have the best urban affordability plan in the nation you -- We have the lowest uninsured motorist great nation."

" 1%. The national average but the industry like."

" Is thirteen point eight pristine report. Times but it in the second place place of -- yes we just we need to admire that it's not it was a question that person involved. You -- I'd look at these 88 meeting with some other my my rep or -- senator and a couple of people and John Walsh and non recurrence and Dan -- And discussed this matter so knee who understand the book good parts and that is."

" John -- a retired Georgia told John it was horribly sick in the opposite John there's eight is a group are you an agent 190. Okay it is a group of of agents who've been operating in urban centers. -- They have an association name I just don't remember right now but we are. And you I think you're right and I got to -- I am going to try to see him personally soon. I'm I have been following this actually pretty closely. I'm and I would I would welcome other other conversations I feel like the introduction of competition. To auto insurance has been an overwhelming success. But I think -- any change. Is when we're we have to not just launch it but we have to monitor it and keep adjusting as we know. And if it is having. Impact I think there's a lot of urban legend about the impact due respect to your point. And -- evidence of those concerns but I want to get into it and I will. And if you through year three year rep or senator I don't want to be part of that -- that the very."

" Period John thank you symmetrical for take a break governor -- pension talk about you you've made it clear the conferees when your position is we talked in prior months. About the fact that neither version house or senate -- your proposal has a -- On and we talked I think last month the view. Do you support I think is that yes you said what's the proper number. Whatever the proper numbers if you made it clear of the countries in the house and senate to you'd like to see a cap in this cell number in this pension no now and."

" I think explain that I explain that before -- this is a two stage thing. It is eight -- to deal with the that addresses the kind of the low hanging fruit and -- you know a lot of -- is I don't know if nobody ever illicit enrichment and well it's the thing there's so obvious -- most of retail -- stately. Right and then there's a and it is a working group that is trying to work through some things require more analysis and some of those things that -- nine -- I mean actuarial studies disability. Rules and with the impact of those changes would lead the from the perspective the cost. And and and on the people to sit there and get through it more negative and it worked at all. And it be another another. Another deal I don't I I got the point about cap and there. I just don't know with the right numbers and of 200000. Ninety 920. Does it just one of those things where it seemed to require a little bit more fought. And just the seat of the pants you know this is obviously fix it right now in the in the bill which can move fast. And so we put pedal I my view is that the test -- then we'll come back -- it. In them in the fall if they if someone amends with cap. And it's reasonable and get my and it. I think we get attention for volunteer work -- is defined as -- hanging fruit."

" When -- and those those cases result people Marbury boards -- on the Leo you know you don't really it's let you know it's it's really."

" It really is and they."

" the overwhelming number of people who work in state government. Worked incredibly hard I paid a modest amount of money. And retire after a long period of service with a modest regular page eight -- play by the rules of the pension is paid. The folks who gained. RM. You know this sort of part of the club if you look you know --"

" Yeah -- isn't safe and then there's certain -- unions in the legislature anyway discredits. The rest of the system does and the reason to be I think specially. Sensitive. Today is because there is any debate at large it's been out here for some time on in the private sector. About moving away from defined. Benefit benefit systems altogether you don't support and I don't I don't believe I'm saying is. That I believe that debate will take -- If we don't bring integrity back. To the to the defined benefit system that we have right now which is which tend to."

" Of one of the -- social Murphy's -- over the weekend in the glow talk about the fact that 93 of the 200 legislators are on track to get these enhanced pensions and what they essentially have to do is vote against their own interest. To endorse the public interest and that's the mess for an. They essentially I that you you could not find one person governor roll your community meetings not one who supports legislators getting enhanced benefits because they either quit or they get fired by the voters."

" You say this in a tone like -- we're arguing with each that we agree. We we agreed that I think the job and I don't think it's a nice neat thing to say I think the job is to pay attention."

" and you know have a a better. Public career now how to get they have better. Incumbency you know Lebanon have better countless."

" That's what I think the Japanese."

" That's what we're supposed to do let's hope legislators are listing we'll take a break more of Deval Patrick he's here till three united 600 --"

" Nobody to ask the governor with Deval Patrick on Boston's -- evolution -- six. PKK."

" Welcome back. To ask the governor 96 point nine T taking this is the governor and -- human Marjorie in and we."

" Tennessee one thing at different stroke -- vegetables -- if you feel about this pensions companies don't do this when he's sitting here. Like Marjorie and I do and I think the governor does pretty clue here. Instead of whining every day of us on the phone call your state legislator while they're considering he's still the ones yeah. They worry pocket and he 06177222. Thousand common say -- fans don't waste should change don't complain afterwards if -- cold somebody -- govern content poems."

" I'm -- united state speak up on them on that speak up on transportation reform speak up on ethics reform to the secure government."

" They have to know that people have to know the legislators have to know that people paying attention and I think it's not enough people paying attention."

" Governor did you -- to -- oh I will -- and -- little let's see Barbara is calling from new report."

" Are there from Newbury -- thank you for you know the idea. The first time ever the talk program. A blink and you fire that Barbara. And about cellphones for me since I you know -- the you know about. With the with the transcript that -- I could do this regularly -- and to get distracted rises in general yeah. Everywhere I mean that in my community. Is everywhere. -- here. What why it took him down it seems like in the opening. Come down on on an attractive side but in general you're putting hefty fine and look at how you could make -- at the same time he'd be doing it could be."

" So you would say in it's an incident. -- have raised that. The consequence to make of the ticket price."

" You could have -- could I sign on it and don't have you know warm. You know read which incidentally and that was small but you don't really not that people --"

" I grab this and when your last week. Went down for that to New York for that my mother in law's funeral and they have -- ruled there. That you cannot use a cell phone unless it's and three play -- me rethink that."

" Even when I was distracted but I mean any places from being the -- the dignity to protect. Text messaging and didn't you know instant. -- don't specifying to Egypt and not get Petit did -- we didn't happy."

" Governor of that we -- we discussed along with the callers question we discussed 21 or two days it was a state -- embarrassing -- it -- GUY yeah right from -- some from Berkshire -- daughter and who has proposed a ban on -- by the what is Rhode Island senators voted 34 nothing a few days ago to ban texting and -- not only in the wake of -- horrible situation with. Even quicktime that among drive about try to plug in vehicles are his support and a drive drivers as you -- ban texting in car bombs are the -- support."

" Legislation I hadn't really thought about it but I certainly understand where it's coming from the united I have. I'm really -- As a parent. I'm really hard on my kids. Of that about -- you know someone once described you know just to the point when they start sleeping through the night in the get used -- and then they get their life. And they they're up. Right yeah and I always I and they text and kids. Kids are older a world renowned -- themselves to be quite responsible drivers that -- at the beginning I used to say don't even turn on the radio. No conversation with your friends just. If you -- in the primaries so you have focused on the road. And that is it. And it worries me and -- you mean when I'm commuting in. And you see how much is going on -- drivers planned in the make up in the shaping in the and the texting in and and the rest of its recently where recent signs or understand what I was getting."

" On the team you were amongst those anonymously you arguably matter much for the others were concerned in the wake of this accident on the day the -- called -- this himself has said no more cell -- and -- you said you want the qualifications experience wherever looked I don't think we're what do you want the outcome what do you want to have happen."

" I want somewhat and want someone to explain to me what our policy -- pants so that we can exit and and why it is what it is but it has been. So that we can examine whether that rationale is right. You know that -- The first impression. After this accident. Is that we shouldn't startled. But whatever it is we have in places now work eighteen is young and and -- and then in some -- doing what we think of his eighteen year olds doing right."

" But but meanwhile in control of public safety."

" So that's obviously got to be worrisome it's worrisome to the governor's race and it to human and tear -- and."

" to -- mark -- replayed sound before state senators sit in eighteen in this that you cannot rent a car now there's a private individual but you can drive a subway car that has a hundred people want him. Should taking too young."

" I don't know audiences and my instinct tells me it is then but as I -- want to examine them and we'll examine the policy. I want examined the reasoning behind the the policy ailments he would rather on cities and Stater. Are doing and by the way have also want to understand why it is. In a short period of time we have had two serious. ITX and what that says. Both drugs went four to. So. He back to the calls Kathy is calling from -- Kathy Kathy."

" I don't care how all right you good thanks. Rob thank you for taking my call governor I very much appreciation night should. As you know back in January I presented a petition -- over 6000 people -- Regis. All I know you'll see how you. Did you go to."

" Oh sorry go ahead he's going to tell about units. Did you go to the hearings."

" Yes absolutely we Arabia on Monday. Actually not content and other at the end the continuing to follow that hearing that the week is -- unit to go back in tomorrow well. On my question is that the activity to you hearing governor is. I'm just wondering if BJP has the ability to revoke the license of utility. -- being -- this juncture that the they do not have that ability that the -- unlikely to be if I. So I'm just wondering if you could answer that."

" I just say for dual core this is where units it was the utility company where there were outages for days and some weeks this week. It and it actually camping you might might just -- a bit more for folks who don't lose your way."

" Unit Philip Beck 28000. Residents that I region that -- what's consistent Pittsburgh. When amber hasn't been an -- Many people without power for as much as a particular week."

" From the -- rights to."

" Yes right before Christmas -- it was a very tough time. Many people as a result. Upgrade. A lot of the image in their home heights. -- that -- and a tents generators we're able has neighbors so there it was quite quite an experience the lived through yeah I think the frustrating thing that was that we weren't. Seeing improvement. I had stated that the outcome just kind of you know gradually watching it -- because back in 96 we had -- the head. A week without no power. And -- I was a little concerned it was just kind of watching the numbers crap Batman thing checking with my own public officials here in town. This see -- yeah really on Iwo. Yeah I think that and we were blessed to live and it's not communities it really watches outreach. But nonetheless we didn't improvement and we are very very grateful that Governor Patrick did step in and bring. Bring in the troops then. And basically got up back up on line in the very short window of time. Thank god."

" Until that question was -- the view of the power of all the license. DT you and did you and answer can't I'm not sure with the answer is out find out. Am I can't believe they would have said that they didn't. If that weren't the case. Though that. The question that would come to my mind is is if you can -- licensed and what happens to the service after the licenses pulled if you only have. Unit -- in that region if I if I'm right that rank."

" Very fortunate. Communities are looking effectively it did utility commissions are looking they have formed utility commission to look at. Forming individual municipalities. And alternative and achieve and what."

" Local cooperatives and so yeah. Economical. It makes sense you don't all the hard."

" All apart from the."

" unless they don't hold John Rooney will take your -- we'll take your number when the governor learns what the answer is somebody from his office will call you governor on that I -- you thank you protect inning -- if she's right -- the the BTU was or school you can only do fines. Can think past the -- on to the same rate payers. Who date in jail detonate."

" And in audiences. Wouldn't that be an outrage I would do it justice. Is that where you -- and that is exactly which surprised me that's probably exactly it works economical let's see. Donald is calling from his card Donald."

" The ball down -- I thought I think yeah. My question is the group over registry. Yes that's that's the only reapply for an 87 to. -- 98 illegal to give it a rear license plate. Governor of Wisconsin is proposing that is Jules -- important one other states do not issue --"

" Yeah maybe. And maybe I'll I'll I'll ask about it at a beach to be here with law enforcement has to say I'm in terms of being able to them. To to read plates the other thing I'd be interested it is you know we're we're trying to figure out how to do. How we speak tolling on on the pike. You doing away with the with the told believes in having a reader. From you know just basically -- Fancy side. Political thing that transponder transponder and and then a photograph for people who don't have a transponder intended send Tbilisi -- to slow -- him as a and I would be interested in whether having to license plates makes a difference in net but Donald I hadn't thought about and I'll ask."

" Donald thank you for the call governor for a take a break the number one questions -- in the email but for you respond to was the car for welfare recipients and questions about taxes and general. Public via email or an ever heard -- this Jonathan was the first from some reason he's talked about it chipped in new powers says as a major consumers -- affect the people no longer be able to go to their quote regular mechanic debit check engine -- off for whatever something as simple as a battery replaced. Can't you performed how do you come down right to repair legislation I guess is that chipped in some new cars that well. I don't know about you have to take you to deal apparently you can't I guess the point of these emails -- got a few at least of more than a few is that essentially unless you go back to the dealer. The you can't get car repaired you know."

" And only -- I'd be a disaster like the idea of as much consumer choice is possible that I don't know. Okay we'll check it out we will so we'll take a break we come back final round with -- Governor Deval Patrick -- known as -- one of the ticket."

" Nobody to -- the governor with Deval Patrick on Boston's -- evolution. Six WTKK."

" They'll report about Apple's iMac was supposed to come okay. It's I think it's a 96 point nine WTKK. Syracuse and look forward to that on Monday did quite -- before -- go ahead governor. I."

" Think one of the most obscene decisions are seeing from yesterday's he was couple weeks ago in which the enough by 41 margin. Part of the decision he was just -- Spina wrote that. Possession of an illegal firearm. Is a quote victimless. Crime in this is a response is something out with Sam seller is the DEA down in August Bristol -- had been asking judges to keep. Disasters of illegal weapons in jail for up to ninety days without bail. The SEC said forgot about a fictional struck you filed something that would undo this -- decision you can quickly what's the crime package deal."

" With a crime package includes net hang in in it it'll last for a dangerousness hearing in that everybody is the same but -- very serious trauma. Illegal gun. I trafficking in in Massachusetts that we have refile one got a month. Bill which is to deal with the straw purchasers these are folks who go and buy guns in bulk. And then sell them on to people who shouldn't. Have them on under the table. We think that nobody really can object to -- being restricted to buying one lawful gun a month that we trying to look at. How we register and guns that are purchased in in informal ways is through. Gun and shoots himself with trying to deal with the yeah. With a terrible tragedy. -- to go when it. He picked up the machine gun amber. -- in west coast as often -- limiting the ability. People to handle machine guns to those who have. A license to do so -- thing. The bill also. Tries to get at the idea. At the yen. Problem we have of people -- street cursory patently 95%. Of whom are released eventually once they -- Having no preparation. -- successful re entry. So stepped down programs and mandatory post release supervision and make sure people get on their feet standing -- And don't get. Don't. And stay out of the temptation. Two two to repeat it and offenses. And in cori reform which is just criminal record business is the criminal record system which is. Riven with. Areas it is. It is used by people who don't always understand with the -- what you're reading in this some in the information to Seoul stale. It's not real and so we trying to them tighten up that. That system as well as some sentencing reform looking."

" But -- to -- to -- ton of people -- saying what's with these community meetings I've heard -- dot gov slash governor slash forums get the whole list where they are when they are that sort of thing spectacles governor you would please."

" Yes indeed let's see."

" Davis calling from the card in eight. Days. So I gave -- okay thanks for hanging on."

" Not from the question fluid tools of closed on the assuming -- sport -- so when. I don't know familiar the area -- gives -- just with. Normal traffic flow yeah I don't know what stories -- actually utilized to take a look at. The consequence of that but living in this part of would be a disaster at work in -- you travel that rotary day yeah. It's back that naturally."

" That's just with with the density and traffic."

" the best -- arbitrary router and you played a -- what they do that -- to -- You'll look at the trains local with a solution it's already. Initiative now. I was told to win. What's the play its due to rectify what what does Korea problem that will be -- a bigger problem."

" Yes a great question Dave first of all I I think it goes too far to say it's a proposal it's something we were asked to look at and we have wheat for. Started the conversation with the federal highly. Authorities because near the ones who would have to give permission for that is to figure with the processes and -- they would be to it. And -- and it came up because in trying to figure out what the right Lee is two to pay for this maintenance. Roads and and bridges you've been -- they -- gas tax debate. It's going to be been following that case. Yeah I'm -- and then in the tooling on the pike in it tunnels and and so forth we asked to look at the question of so called border tools. That the New Hampshire -- so when -- Rhode Island in. Connecticut and Vermont New York. The way to make that work it seems to me and I don't know if you were listening earlier when we tell you that. Open road tolling or highway speed telling would be used the technology that doesn't require you to slow down and listen him and somebody at the point. But that you know. Would -- be transponder blurry picture. It's taken ambulances but he just keep going it normal highway speeds there's -- point would not be to really think what you're getting it don't compound a problem. By causing people to have even more reason for a four delay and I think that's what you're getting it right eight."

" Lekkerkerker Stephenson these high speed billing procedures still putting an obstacle -- That's already congested with with nothing in the middle of the U going to be putting something in the -- and even though that polling people still have."

" Now now now there's a technology and visit visit technology it's actually in use in other in the states Sweden go right through its 65 miles an hour sixty miles now in the speed limit speed limit is. And you told your toll is paid by your transponder if you have one our pictures -- that's what that's sort of thing anti."

" They've -- governor at the toll increase was good for march was -- this one's still in place theoretically for July 1 if there's sales tax increase and they don't do what you said needed to be done on the gas tax. About toll -- don't know if I have are first going to have to we don't have any choice so even with a large sales tax increase no gas tax tolls go up."

" No -- now hold on let's be clear if they don't if we don't fix the revenue in the the liberals were correct and the tolls -- going to -- to -- and the sales -- alone would -- of -- will -- of this you know if that's the framework we end -- to working and then we'll have to -- will have to -- that that conversation -- you know the reason -- the gas tax is -- better."

" or another reason went against Texas there -- go you know as unpopular as it is."

" Is that it the bondholders. Which is part of the issue here. -- want a reliable. Revenue source and if you have a sales Texas and something's gotta be appropriated."

" Every year."

" Win now when everybody is debating you know other need to competing I -- that's temptress. Let's turn over the Israelis liquids do one more. Let's see. Is Josh calling. Cards don't -- Josh welcome."

" I I -- I have a question of there's been rumors the legalization of marijuana -- that those that have been -- of the decriminalization of marijuana. But there's been a lot of talk about who's trying to get past the vote legalizing it indeed that it's marijuana is. Legalized if you like its old form in America. He's saying. I'll look at them and crimes. And trafficking of illegal weapons."

" I can judge -- just thank you for your questions that shame our time is up so I'm thanked everybody up. I think it's a serious question I don't know if that I don't think. There is a bill pending in. The state house right now to decriminalize marijuana and -- naturally net criminalist who mean to legally -- it's legal to guerrilla arsenic in Austin legalize lesnar tax tax taxes and I'm not sure it would matter. In if it Massachusetts did you know on its -- because the federal -- used to use the as so called pre -- Here I don't know if if the connection between. Marijuana. Trafficking. And gun violence is as strong as it is. Between narcotic trafficking and -- I don't know audiences and it at a gasoline lines of what I don't think it is."

" Don't go as anybody in your -- spoken anybody on the president's four hours for some though chose the sooners and has anybody and hasn't been any contact -- my staff to combat know what has there been any conversation edited next. Org -- technical teams come unanswered question though. Because I know you'll say you're not taking -- running for reelection my question is is okay well let's remember -- any inquiry and roll. Between the Obama administration and any of your people about justices."

" Not so far as China. I spoke to the president last week -- net participant scales with digital. Mine. To. -- as Governor Patrick thanks much please send our thoughts your -- as well thank -- between husband. And we'll see an excellent great."
