| Description: | David Kravitz and State Rep Jeff Perry are our Wrappers. |
" Might -- six line WT JJ. And now that's a wraps around. Your wife famously toward the but the vast right wing conspiracy targeting youth is it's still there who -- you there."
" You know what you sit up yourself and look for and I didn't under that I did get textiles. Which isn't and you get kicked out of your input that your roommate and has. We've been able to talk about stuff like OK like I leave the room for a pizza. Like like like like Cleveland plain plain Blake hammered okay -- you may know it's illegal to have okay without a permit in camera."
" An auction scene when kegs are being murdered in two vehicles. And then we'll keep an eye on those cars --"
" We've got to stop -- we have got to say no I'll. Did did -- slap in the face."
" At least one senior official led the National Science Foundation. Has been spending as much as 20% of his working hours and resurgent."
" Pornography -- what happened was not consensual now. Absolutely not I felt wasn't right right I won't -- Goldberg and."
" I love kids I know now it was slowed it was the right thing to do this something that just happened I have. -- had sex with women who work for me on this show. Where is Michael Graham fund Boston's -- evolution might -- 69 WTKK."
" Who have appeared on."
" Help or anything can happen. -- his first appearance on the blue on the oh that's drastically as on the show before it blew mass groups very own David Kravitz David welcome. Thanks Michael and -- and a jet Terry many people listen makes a mistake coming back. And -- the book doing about doing great thanks a lot of stress and lies your shameless plug it is at WW type he got my GOP book dot com I thought."
" Now glad that here we got out as you can see that lot of stuff to talk to we're gonna get the -- housekeepers are gonna get to. The Roma plan to store in the political aspect of which I find fascinating that a million stuff like it's the things going on bio start -- guys. With where we are right now in America you look at. Unemployment at nine point 8%. The functional unemployment that is when you add together the part time who would be full time. And people stop working at 17%. You look at the it's the criticism from our European allies of when you guys is so wimpy we've got our president being lectured by. French the French president going ideal in the real world I can't just give speeches you saw that horrifying performance at the UN war are -- humiliated by appearing. These and knuckle heads."
" I gotta tell -- I mean. This is not the Obama IU what what's what's present obamas -- remembered this isn't the whatever the the Bill Ayers or reverend I knew this Obama I was expecting I thought we'd have a little more competence separate from the ideology Democrats Howard your friends on the left feeling about. How the president is doing. His job."
" Well you know as you say there there is significant unemployment in the country in the good news is that at least here in Massachusetts things are looking up. We are apparently. According to a story that came on the globe earlier this week. We're well ahead of the curve and the rest of the country and as I'm sure you'll recognize Michael that's due to the excellent work the --"
" I appreciate the love from Michael --"
" Look at that is good about that focus if you might for is a few minutes on President Obama and where the chameleon who I mean it's not. Like in the it was Bush's fault seem to be kind of dementia for eight months okay fine we had 800 billion dollar stimulus package -- had tons of money dumped just straight into the markets we added castor -- does which he now. Now know was a disaster and most of its sales have plummeted this month doll. But it. Where is this smart guy who is so smart if I didn't vote for my must be a racist because everybody else has voted for because he like you know what are we were face to."
" And it's starting in the last the last few months the Bush Administration is by by everyone's lights and -- absent this out of caused by in large part policies of your team is back and wrong with the so we Obama comes in and he puts he puts in of the stimulus. Bill and a number of other. Measures that they've they've tried to alleviate the crisis. And most reports are now that the recession is bottoming out and more on the way up out there is no doubt you know as we said this was an epic crisis. And it could have been much much worse and you know we're less than a year in and it's already starting to turn."
" Data Kravis who has -- so just to summarize your view still feel pretty good about. Once again not about ideology and about lepers right as far as doing the job you think pres Obama's doing a pretty good job."
" But there -- things I'd have complaints about as everybody does but you know. By and large I'm not I'm not sure what the alternative ones to represented that's very. Wow that's I get a different -- beyond that it's I really see if."
" you know -- what you gonna brag about our nine point 1% and on the Massachusetts clearly that event. Over a trillion dollars in stimulus it's not working unemployment is through the rules. The recession is over according to the president's Treasury Secretary. Unemployment here in Massachusetts. He indicated that the globe said it's getting Betty here unemployment is through the roof here in Massachusetts is -- another three tenths of 1%. This September. Revenues at 200 million dollars below expectations here in Massachusetts the tax increase in Massachusetts apparently didn't work it didn't. Bring in more money than they thought. And now or on the verge of creating one of the largest. Socialized health care systems ever envisioned in this country. I don't think it's getting better people protest across the country at tea parties and those things and you know. We all have a lot to blame Republicans and Democrats they all voted for the stimulus bill Barney Frank led the charge senate -- bomber at the time voted for all this stuff so. And we can point fingers around but this. President was supposed to come in and change things and I don't see anything that's change I see more government spending government getting -- year tax is getting higher. And I quite frankly don't see the change that was promised."
" There's even numbers turning in their right direction thanks I mean I'm just curious what the alternative. Well the alternative is to lower attack hours and make government smaller we tried that and that what we ended up with was September of 2000."
" But to discipline and understand because. Economies go up and down we had the collapse for example in the last year the Clinton presidency of the tech bubble and I would never in and some people did say -- disapproves of Bill Clinton was evil didn't. It's the market the market goes up and down. We had from -- election of Ronald Reagan the beginning of reaganomics until that September 25 years of almost constant growth. Based on the policies Jesus described what David -- not a -- a 25 year track record it's not too bad."
" Abandoning. Among unclear exactly what your point is since most of most of that record growth was during the Clinton Years well so your pro Clinton. That's fine if that President Clinton was in favor of in many times you know his his views -- certainly not those of the far left I think you that the parlor down."
" my -- is the points I make you know the record growth was not during Clinton had a different baseline -- to the change that Ronald Reagan brought in because growth from 18% inflation to know inflation and 10% and Reagan -- and a wonderful news claimant. This this these Social Security 83 out of after none until he cut taxes and they raised in some back from the cut. But he did not take taxes backed up from where they wore when he became president he lowered taxes regulation is my point in this track record of 25 years. Is that. I guess I'm saying is where does this change. That -- that -- you think if you're taught maternal towards you say you know. It's time to stop doing what works closely by the is just on to this other thing and here's the evidence that's gonna work out I guess I'm trying to ask a broader question of stumbling around I apologize."
" Well also the other thing is les Jackson the other thing we're talking about with Obama you're saying. Is leaves taxes where they are for everybody. OK guys I guess he doesn't have a problem with that. Except for the super rich where will put them back up to where they were. I think under Clinton and that's the proposal. Is that okay or is that that."
" Well you know that the change that I am talking -- ballot and in my comments as the president ran on this the -- message of change meaning. He's gonna get the troops out of the war. In the Middle East he was going to a close gitmo he was going to stimulate the economy who's gonna change the culture of Washington. -- you for a -- that. That's you're absolutely not but the American people voted for President Obama and his message of change just like in 2006 the people Massachusetts voted four. Deval Patrick and his message of change pretty much the same message. And -- you know from Beacon Hill. I don't see any change IC higher taxes all the ethical scandals all the infighting within the majority party all the stuff that goes on behind the closed doors on Beacon Hill. Miles east see any change there after three years of Governor Patrick and now looking Washington and saying. Well now the saying gitmo isn't going to change and in isn't going to close. They're asking for more troops. And the making government bigger. So I I'm just missing what the changes and why why people are still standing behind these elected officials. Who. From my point of -- aren't meeting their campaign promise."
" Because they didn't withdraw the troops within eight months of being elected. And they didn't solve an epic financial crisis completely within eight months of being elected -- the the argument."
" until they said they're gonna do -- mean for president Barack -- set for example not to raise taxes on people make -- took a 2000 dollars we now know that the healthcare plan obviously will raise taxes on people with insurance. Who have less than two of the 2000 dollars and people who don't have insurance we'll be raising the -- completely thrown out the window set to be transparent begin to get him to put legislation up for votes on these is really the deal like every other politician which is fine."
" But where's the change its -- deal audible magic isn't Europe right now we only deal for his buddies in Chicago so they get rich when he brings them the Olympics and gave it to where would you rather see Olympic and we're asking you questions I'm asking you crack it why not let -- Russians did not -- for you did that where's the change like I understood what people on your team aren't going. The guy we would have as far as that's."
" Yeah Pakistan and Iraq goes as you know I'm sure there's plenty of complaints -- problem on my team to historic Apollo has pressed as to the policies going and we've got actually most of the democratic candidates for senate here in Massachusetts. Asking and asking the same question. As to you know we want and now we've got most of the Massachusetts delegation in congress saying weird where reluctant to authorize further funds for a some kind of plan for what's going. So. You know no one. Is saying I don't think that everything Obama's done is great and certainly we've had our complaints. And the same thing and and just a return to represented a Perry's a point about Massachusetts. You know if you read the site regularly I don't think anyone has been less happy about some stuff that's going on in the legislature the --"
" I don't it and we're gonna designate EU representative Kravitz of the blue mass group. -- represented very represented Travis I'm representative Michael Graham of well nobody wants me to represent them here we got so much more to talk we're gonna talk about economics and bring it down to the ground here in Massachusetts. Because I think I see. The blue mass group -- economics in the high -- story. Which is let's just shut the business down so we can all be unemployed together that's my. Here I could be wrong we'll have David react to that also. On the ground here masters the Senate race I think things are shaping up early on on that that's all coming up the morning yes. I know you want you to look into the sex talk later I promise we'll talk about -- Polanski. Have a jet represented parent status cannot wait to talk about how much -- they're surfing up on Beacon Hill he cannot wait to talk about is all coming up here on 9690 taken."
" We've got to stop I know how we have got to take this -- and we have got just say no it did in slap in the face and that's what this. Why was he was a slap in the face."
" City councilor Maureen -- yeah. Announcing that giving behind workers another job at the same day with the same benefits guarantee -- margins they slap in the face. President Perry I know about 91% of the working population in Massachusetts loved to get a slap in the face like that instead they have no job."
" Tommy about it and it's. It's really more than 9% that's the number and a cell line. In -- I can't believe that the governor or city councilor any elected official would be telling a private industry. No you can't lay people off at the same time or or day before a week before. But government is now only people -- we have police we get firefighters school -- across the state being laid off the governor has a 200 million dollar deficit. Which will likely lead this state layoffs of human service workers and what the rumors are. And so at the same time the -- to human service workers. Sorry we can't have you on the state payroll to take care of the sick and the globally because there's nothing we can do because that the financial crisis. -- we know its business is down but you have to hire these people back and give them more money."
" So how about it and it Dick -- the blue mass group did the governor do the right thing getting involved. And well. Why why would he do that I think enable their private business about a two into the Mike a little closer to you to salute when starter for us and we used to singing -- so you keep this -- one. Needed to also tell right."
" It right. No I think you know I I don't think I -- I think -- in their second statement. On this admitted that they've handled the whole situation with. With a note. It. Outsourcing the jobs and having people who are in their training their replacements and -- like -- they've handled it very badly. And and that they were trying to make amends I think none of that would have -- Happened if you know if the governor and on and and frankly you know this notion that that a -- corporation besides high. Can't afford to have housekeepers on -- paying fifteen bucks an hour kind of beggars the imagination."
" Why. Would you pay fifty and it honestly five what you put in that this will stick -- the numbers would you pay fifteen dollars for any dollar pizza. Repeat the guy's got them well -- pizza right next door as he identical PTI don't toss and."
" Whole thing was you know -- it was really into having nice hotels really well trained customer service people people who are committed to the company. So that the room was really nice because higher charges money when you get there. And I had sort of the thought that that was that was appointed having people on staff from having contractors. Now. So I think the point is that."
" In the US a lot of hey I don't -- dollar -- it's evident -- It is they don't pizza they're getting the same service day in their opinion and it's their business and they like you said people notice their rooms at the nightly they -- we can get the same fifteen dollars spit in our service for eight dollars would you pay fifteen dollars for an eight dollar service the -- and."
" And the false premise what -- and that's it they're they're saying we would rather give our customers an eight dollar pizza -- fifteen -- outlet every now that's up to them. That's up to them -- it's also up two. You know it's up to now."
" David is absolutely right it is up to them and it shouldn't have the governor of the common all the highest elected official. In this state basically threatening a corporation that and -- you reconsider this and make an alternative business decision. That the state is going to be encouraged in its employees at 70000 employees and all these contractors. We're gonna make sure that we don't do businesses high and I just think that they're responsible to pick that one entities to -- corporation went. There's so many other corporations that are happening to make these decisions. Is that it's the government -- speak out against sat and sat motor company and say you can't close -- we were gonna boycott."
" General obviously because I do that because we've lost 25000. Many to actually more than twice by tells me backing John since he's being governor so the mind losing jobs. And yet somehow when involves. His -- plummeting numbers David. His problems with unions and now -- this cheap shot that by the way tells every other major employer come to Massachusetts and if you do something that will opportunist who helped the governor he'll smack. MacKey -- in the face for try to stay in business. But that's a big -- for Governor Patrick. You lost me. Yeah. Okay I will. I what's confusing about if I own a business why would I watch that the governor is doing to hire at a purely political opportunistic reasons. While -- come to Massachusetts we can do that to me."
" And you tell me Michael I like I wouldn't do that -- that is all it is."
" Lot of reasons businesses don't come here and don't expand here in. You know the political climate is certainly a lot of -- on the mandated universal health care that we have the higher taxes the high cost of housing and all the things that the infrastructure problems and none of these things are being addressed. And all of us live -- and all of that is why as we -- on the -- earlier this week -- come back -- this again Massachusetts is recovering from the recession faster and -- recipe and -- net -- you don't like the -- understand you know you're -- a story a few days -- something today -- the unemployment rate is up and the state is 200 million dollars. Below their revenue expectations and historian the globe says a couple of days ago. Was that you know yes job losses are continuing in Massachusetts as they are everywhere else in the country but the pace of loss in Massachusetts slowing temporary employment which economists see is the leading indicator. Of recovery has been increasing for the last four months in Massachusetts whereas it is continuing to fall on the rest the United States. We saw also that housing sales are up the housing market in Massachusetts is recovering prices are up houses are up -- housing sales are up last year there up moralist."
" Eighty credits from your lips to god do I hope that all takes off and I think you messages is uniquely placed to cover more quickly because of the kinds of jobs that we have. Has nothing to do with the government policy has to do with us being lucky enough."
" President it means is it is like the government encouraging. With with the government -- helping to Foster certain kinds of businesses here and does not everything and I'd let us and are brought in Massachusetts is Governor Patrick all of the democratically controlled legislature doing to Foster business in Massachusetts."
" Great -- they raise 500 million dollars on businesses across the board two years ago they've raised a billion dollars in taxes this year. But they also this on the -- David."
" Well they actually. There there was a corporate tax rate cut as I'm sure you're aware -- and apparently forgot to mention it. That was through deal between governor pat to consult amaze you then no longer speaker of the house. But the fact is the corporate."
" Tax rate went down but the laugh at your tax. Burden whipped up by -- I think you've taxed as there was a study that just came out that said Massachusetts has slipped. From 35 tax burden in the United States and individuals to 38. So taxes in Massachusetts have gone down at -- and that's absolutely false that I'm now learning that I had before and I tax burden according to the United States department. Census now we wind up what highest tackler and per capita and if you if giants they have very bad idea when I carry out. --"
" He dropped from civilian they all I can believe this -- god is Chicago is dropped from 36 Olympics contention. According to everybody across a look at the screens MSNBC. Everybody Chicago is drop President Obama -- and mrs. Obama go over and play. That is a display -- amazing charisma of those amazing powers of persuasion that are irrefutable and they get dry. From Olympic contention that's not good -- it back is on explain how you're both right with your numbers. We do have the fourth highest tax burden her. Person right but based on our share of wealth we have the lowest percentage of our well that goes to taxes. David Kravitz is right. Which of course proves that the prices that even Louise are lowered the prices -- golden corral because they're smaller percentage of the average customer comes in the door they must feel lower prices it couldn't be that you're actually paying a hundred dollars for -- David -- depends on how. How you wanna look at the numbers we're looking up to be to have high value high well citizens and workers David. And yet. At the same time we also have. Some of the highest taxes the fact we can pay them so that felt amazing -- can blow them on each other is the -- almost beside the point."
" Okay what what I was looking at the numbers I was looking at our. If I remember the exact statistic. The the percentage. Of the personal income goes discussed -- out of the fit because."
" We are wealthy state were full of wealthy people that's a great great great thing that has nothing to do with the fact that the price is still very very high. Hi we just have an incredible amount of our money to -- on those prices and explains the tax -- I think we I think we break they'll give you got -- chance to think about this Chicago news just happened we will not be getting the Olympics in Chicago all over the Chicago heartland large donors to the Obama -- now crying wondering how they -- unload this property I just -- David Kravitz representative David -- of the blue mass group representative Jeff -- of the message is legislature. I to tell you Jeff I find the blue mass group playing. Better group to be involved in the in the state legislator verio I Michael Grant."
" Folks here within the city will tell you certainly within the Chicago Olympic bid committee. But certainly this is not -- expected to be I mean everything breaking their way up to and including. An unprecedented visit by the president of the United States before the IOC to personally pitched this. Is it really doesn't you know I'm I'm sure in this crowd makes a little -- little sense of."
" The out. Did that more interestingly grey have a John Negroponte as they lost in the first round right they. They go through and they vote to -- they vote they can have both sequentially and they if they lobby through in Chicago was was with two Chicago took -- first two -- right."
" And that's what the shot is to the media outlets here no one was even ready. At this pointed to even to get neat because it just audio the next round in on exactly it was -- Real Madrid ands that -- names like not actually -- Madrid and Tokyo and Chicago are out out."
" And okay so there you go thanks suffered an update great travels on here discuss that represented Jeff Perry and state house and representative of the Blue Man Group David Kravitz. Yeah they were talking earlier this lot of talk about. This setting aside partisanship I know it's hard for all of us to do is hard to trust each other on this let's just look as a guy who ran campaigns is thinking about smart politics. How does this make the president look -- his as high a visibility high stakes trip you brought practice on it he. The of the whole Afghanistan thing was blowing up as far as -- on the crystal he's on a plane on the other way and they need. Doesn't even Palin and impact what what oh what had -- what what's your take."
" He's probably a mistake. -- that's my tape and not very interest in that."
" Do you agree that the Obama White House made this. You know kind of they put some chips on the table fueled their own choice but deciding not just to have mrs. Obama to have the president go to."
" Her immediate if the president goes he raises the stakes. Definitely that's political capital every elected official has an obviously new president has a lot of political capital -- when he has both houses of congress you know behind him and he's been. Spending that political capitals fast hazards coming in and you know from making a pitch for a public option on the health care and that not getting traction to. Many other things that he's been doing it today or yesterday going over there and know quite frankly when I saw the result there in the announcement coming in expect I thought isn't that."
" In the bag and you don't go realistically see adage about lawyers don't ask questions. They don't know the answer trillion understand you don't you know you'd if if you don't want the guy to ask you to marry me don't show up for the day where you always bring in the ring box I mean."
" It's even not even on my level of I'm not gonna go make a speech about some grants has come out tomorrow must find -- that like a community that's gonna get the grant I'm not gonna set myself up to fail on. This is pretty bad in the first round and apparently they gave the president of the United States. No nothing nada -- not gonna -- of saying -- are let's put off till tomorrow."
" question about political capital to what's it that you look at -- January David and there was like how many people were scared even. Saving and all the they didn't agree with the president needs because he's as Canadian people say -- he's gonna change that look landscape for forever he gives a rare speech joint session of the congress. Out when he comes out the polling on and the on health care is as low as it's been since it started polling you know in there in this current debate. Where is the president's political capital. As we don't care bill I think he's going to be there -- there is it will not be because of the charm good looks and eloquence of Barack Obama he does not moving numbers it'll be angry because of what because -- nobody -- is driving a sixty senators and the 260 house members controlled by one party they're gonna have to muscle something through because he doesn't have the political capital to persuade the American people the goal. And it's not that I'm gonna respecting."
" The health care bill comes serial which is yet to be determined it's not going to be that health care bills that. The president want written it's not going to be the public option health care bill it's not going to be this real reform healthcare so this is well let's. And let's let let's get some of the facts straight though I mean first of all that Obama has never sent. That public option is do or die for now there's a lot of people on the left who wish that he would who who who were trying you -- you know practically begging him. To make public option now the president and of the scenic -- the president the -- anybody else ever that he wanted to healthcare bill and he wouldn't sign one of the cost one more bald on the health care system right now. And he's he's gonna be faced with a bill Q if you ask anyone what they want he said he wants."
" Sign a bill that adds any better than that today or in the future and so he's obviously line but that's a separate is only get back to what you skipping David think about where we were in January. I meet in general I'd said and by the way the presence gonna fly to lie you know give a speech at its ask for the Olympics ever wanna go off. All we're gonna get the Olympic cities that the -- gonna demand health care reform that the -- 70% of America's gonna fall onto it and now he's in a."
